Importance of connectors in electronic devices

In order to build a connection between two components of any electronic device, connectors are used. The connector’s plays quiet an essential role and are known as known as electro mechanical device.  In addition, they are available in several types and one of them serves different function.

Following are few types of connectors-
  • Crimp on – when fast connections are to be made using high-grade radio frequency, then crimp on is used in such applications. These are used on high scale that is mostly in major industries because these industries require solder less attachments that can be available through this.
  • Ring and spade – in this category, there are basically two types called as insulated and non-insulated types. Each of these types are available in diverse sizes that served as different purpose of various industries. There sizes are distinguished by size of conducting wire screw and AWG. There availability comes either in vinyl, nylon, and heat shrinkable spades.
  • Plug and socket – plugs and sockets are available in many applications that include telephone, computer and many consumer appliances. Plug is a connector in which pin is usually attached to the wire and then connected with a socket. They are usually made from pin contacts and socket contracts, which are also known as male and female plug.
  • Component and device – in order to connect and disconnect the terminals, components as well as the device play an imperative role in diverse electronic applications.
  • Insulation displacement – the use of insulation displacement come in use in telephones, computers and other networking industries. It is widely used in these applications because of its properties of insulation displacement.
  • Terminal blocks – terminal blocks is useful in joining two wires without physically combining them thus being a flexible connector.
  • Binding post – blind post is basically used in amplifiers as well as loudspeakers.
  • Blade – you can find use of blade in many electronic components. Single wire is attached to a receptacle thus making most important choice for use in many industries.
However, while choosing any of the connectors, it is very important to know your requirements like for hybrid, UHF, banana, BNC, 8P8C, USB, spade lugs terminals. Make sure that you ensure its reliability, water resistance, insulation, vibration, and pressure and ability factors.

All you need to know about terminals

Well, to talk about terminals and its numerous advantages that it offers, one needs to get familiar with the term terminal. You can define as a point builds connection between electric circuits.

Whenever electrical wiring is done, various components like power connectors, splices, wires, terminals, and wire joints are made to use. Among all these listed components, ring terminal and fork terminal has a broad usage in electrical application.

If we talk about these two terminals then they are available in numerous colors, types, and sizes that can be used for numerous purposes.

To know about its types, following are few of them-

Vinyl type of insulated terminals-these insulated terminals are insulated either with nylon or vinyl sleeve. This type of terminal is used when electrical connections are to be tested. The temperature varies in between -40ºC to 105 ºC /-40ºF to 220ºF, and AWG range- 22 - 1 and Stud size- 10 to ½.

Non-Insulated type of Terminals-another category of terminal is Non-insulated type that is further ring type terminals that builds a connection between one or more than one wire. The temperature range varies in between - 175ºC/347ºF, and AWG size- 26 to 20 to 12-10, Stud size- 10 to ½.

Nylon Insulated with Insulation Grip-the other category of ring type terminal is Nylon insulated ring type terminal that has an insulation grip that is used to set up insulation grip in various electrical application. The temperature ranges in between -40ºC to 105 ºC /-40ºF to 220ºF. In addition, it comes in large variety of AWG sizes. Moreover, the stud sizes are from zero to 10.

High Temperature Ring type Terminals
- these types of terminals are often used when perform high temperature application to build connections. Some of these applications are ovens, motors, light fixtures and many other applications. The temperature usually varies from - 482ºC/900ºF or 667ºC/1200ºF. In addition, wide variety of AWG sizes is available and has stud sizes from zero to 10 that are completely based on the application area where it has to be used.

However, when purchasing these types of terminals, you need to be sure about the area of application where it has to be used so that you can spend your money in the right applications. Therefore, make sure that you check and research well for the type of terminal you want to buy.

Factors to consider while choosing a heat shrink tubing

A heat shrink tubing is a tube that is mainly made up of thermoplastic material and is used for multiple purposes. It is used in various numbers of applications both for preventive maintenance and make repairs whether permanent or temporary. Moreover, this tube is used in all the aircrafts, planes, medical equipment, and other vehicles.
However, there are certain factors that you need to consider if you are thinking of buying this multipurpose tube. The most important factors are-

Temperature
-  Make sure that you select the tubing material that works well with present temperature range of the environment.

Shrink ratio- This type of tubing shrinks to fit with the underlying material. However, the greater the size of the underlying material the larger the shrink ratio is required. This is mainly because, this particular tubing shrinks when heat is applied. Moreover, the different shrink ratio includes 2:1, 3:1, or 2.5:1.

Chemical resistance- While choosing a shrink tube always confirms whether the tubing is resistant to different chemicals, i.e.  If it works well in case it is exposed to acids, fuels, solvents, oil and other available chemicals.

Abrasion protection- Abrasion protection means that the tubing should stand up to scrape, scratch, graze, cut etc and can easily provide protection to any damage or abuse caused.

Size-It is very important to select the correct size of the tubing. While selecting the size make sure to consider the diameter of the tubing, the shrink ratio, the wall thickness, and the length of the tubing. The wall thickness is always measured in inches or millimeters and it is usually based on the tubing’s technical data, whereas the length depends upon the type of tubing material that you choose.

There are number of uses and benefits of this tubing, hence it becomes very important to choose the right tube. The various benefits are-
  • This particular tube is use to shut water and dirt out of the cables and splices which further helps in protecting TV, computer and other electrical safe, moisture free and dirt free.
  • It acts as a covering material for different electrical parts and helps in protecting other wiring systems.
  • It is widely used in different industries and the main application of this tube includes strain release, electrical lagging, wire bundling, and environment protection and so on.
  • Because of the different tubing colors available, it becomes easy to identify the different cable and wires.
