What are the different types of electronic terminals?

Terminal is the place in electronics, where electrical circuit is completed with external device or circuit. At this place, conductor of electronic ends and external device creates electrical connection through this provided point. Usually, conductor ends with a wire or a connector. Through wire or connectors, one can easily complete temporary or permanent electrical circuit. Terminals are available in every portable or non-portable device.

However, there are several types of electronic terminals such as –

RingRing terminal is the connector that has a shape of ring. It is attached to device by screwing a bolt through it. It ensures the secured wire connection in electronics. It is available in several types such as insulated, non-insulated, heat shrink, crimp less and star ring. Usually, copper is used in it for the maximum electrical conductivity. Insulation with vinyl ensures good dielectric strength. It also has the ability to withstand the pressure of crimping and voltage up to 300. It has several benefits such as good performance, durability, and ease to connect. It can be used in variety of applications including military, aerospace and ship-board applications.

Screw – Screw is another type of electronic terminals. It is a connector in which wires are seized inside it by screwing a bolt above them. Most of the time, insulation of wires is stripped and conductor, usually copper, is directly attached to a metal plate. It is used in multiple applications including switches, speakers, record player or home appliances like oven and dryer. It is available in many types such as multiple and paired. It is a cheaper option compare to other connectors. It provides a secure connection and is easy to connect. However, electrical connection may suffer or lost over time due to rusting, intrusion or vibration etc.

Clips – Clips is one more type of electronic terminals. It is also known as crocodile connector. It is usually used to create a temporary connection. It grips a device with its clip and creates electrical circuit. One side of this connector is permanently connected with a wire, which can be connected to other application. It is usually insulated to prevent shock. It is available in different sizes to complete the requirements of different industries. These clips are used in many electronics in various fields such as education, motors, films, laboratories and dentistry etc.

There are several other types of terminals such as hooks, tab, wire nut and solder lugs etc. Different types of connectors are used in variety of applications. Still, their main job is to complete electrical circuit.
